Rejoing, but only for a couple of minutes

We had no doubts that Jimmer was going to get drafted and even pretty quickly. But when I heard Brad yell from the other room yesterday "Guess who drafted Jimmer?" It was my third guess only after the Jazz and the Kings and only because Brad followed with you will never guess it. I will admit that I did get really excited and even contemplated getting season tickets for this next season. Then a couple minutes later Brad yelled again, "But he already got traded...." Still Milwaukee stepped up the cool ladder for me even if just for a couple of minutes.

New Lens

So after I was asked to be the photographer for my sister-in-laws wedding (and after I stopped stressing out about it) I began to do a little research. I soon found myself wanting a new lens, and now I had a really good reason to, right? Well I was lusting over the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S, but it was a little too much to reason with Brad that I really needed it, so after some more research I found a comparable lens, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF (also one of the cheapest prime lenses you can get). Today was my first time outside with it and I can say that I already love it, and even Brad said "oh I do see the difference in this lens." My other lens will still be loved because it is so useful, but this is my new favorite portraiture lens. Click on the picture to see it in its full glory.

Starved Rock

We decided that we needed to get out for another Roberts adventure this last Saturday. I decided on this place in Illinois that I have been wanting to go to, and with all the rain lately I thought a perfect time to see the waterfalls. It was a long drive down there, but nice to be out and doing something. Charly was a really good sport for us for the most part, we did have to take a break after the first hike and chill in the car with the AC on full power while she took a nap and cooled off. I am hoping she has Brad's mosquito proof skin because I came away with 10 mosquito bites (maybe more because I still am finding them) and she only had one. On our drive down there Brad understood why people from Illinois are called "Flat Landers." This place called Starved Rock in Illinois is really deceiving, you would never guess these cool canyons and waterfalls are there in the middle of farm country.

Let go Hiking Dad!

They called this area the Council Chambers

This was the first waterfall we found...

Charly was not too interested at this point

We got really close to this waterfall

Charly found the best way to hike, asleep while Mom carried her.
